I am 39 and can feel my ovaries pumping out those eggs in the weeks preceeding my monthly cycle. I usually have discomfort on one side or the other for hours-from dull to really bad pinching pains sometimes.

Ive been to the Dr for this..had an ultrasound and everything, they just said Im dropping eggs!

Painful ovulation, when severe, is referred to as mittelschmerz, a German word that means "middle pain."

What causes painful ovulation / mittelschmerz?
Painful ovulation/mittelschmerz is believed to be caused by a small leakage of blood from the ovary that occurs at the time of ovulation. This blood, which is later reabsorbed, is thought to cause an irritation of the abdominal wall which causes pain. The degree of pain you feel depends on your individual pain threshold and the volume of blood that is released, among other factors.

Sometimes I have pains on one side or the other. I suppose whatever side the cramps are on is the side the eggs are dropping from. I'm 22.

I'm 39 also. I also have noticed this same type of pain. I wouldn't worry to much about it if the doctor is not concerned.

you are very intune with your body, this is a good thing. though it is uncomfortable at least you know whats happening, you may just have more severe sensations than others that cause more pain but dont be alarmed all women do this you just can say you know what it feels like. good luck
