I bought some rechargable batteries for my controller but it says on the instruction manual that they are not recommended and will not work as good as the alternative. Is this true or are they just trying to stop people from using them and buying one of their rechargable battery packs?

i bet its just to stop people from buying other peoples batterys and have themselves make profit for themselves. Like my old cd player, it said you should buy panasonic batteries, but it still works fine with any other type of batteries. Also, I thinkt he psp tells you to use their kind of memory card the sony psp memory card made for psp, but any othe pro duo works the same lols.

but then again tisa controller, but hey it should be the same right??

Don't you think it is cheaper to recharge a battery instead of buying them? I have the 360 too. Ihave the rechargable pack and it is the same as buying some normal batterys.

They'll work but Microsoft is right, rechargeable batteries don't work very well. I got some with my optical mouse and the charger is just a waste of space because the batteries screw up the mouse no matter how many times you recharge them. Microsoft wouldn't be making money off the batteries anyways so they have no bad intentions and are probably helping you make your controller last longer.

It's true. Normal rechargeables doesn't last as long as the rechargeable pack. You can use them if that's what you want.
