Surely you understand that when Roy Keane said the stands are filled with prawn sandwich eaters he meant that the game was being taken away from the common fan and moving towards total corporate sponsorship.

Roy Keane famously said there is no atmosphere at old tr afford because the corporate people there were more interested in eating prawn sandwitches than watching the fottie, basically saying some people just go along for the ride not relay interested in the fottie or the team...the Munich 'thing' as you put it was when the man utd plane carrying them back to England crashed on take off killing some of the most talented players of the era ,notable Duncan Edwards....the scousers used to sing songs about it but i aint heard it for a while

I remember going to the League Cup (Carling Cup) final in 2001(Birmingham v Liverpool). Watching a replay of the game after, the commentator said "Look at this crowd, not a prawn sandwich in sight!" Meaning the crowd were all true fans who sang for their team and would stand out in wind, rain and snow to watch them.
With the "Munich" thing it is a reference to the terrible accident in 1958 when the ManYoo team was virtually wiped out after an aborted take off in snow following a European game. The song is pathetically sung usually by a minority of Liverpool fans to taunt ManYoo fans. Sick, hey?

Roy was dead right about the prawn sandwich brigade. I can no longer afford to go to O.T. but when I had a season ticket in the mid 90 in the new stand they made the area directly in front of me a "corporate hospitality" area and I lost count of how many goals these rich or blood sucking prats missed. Sadly, due to my health and financial reasons I can no longer afford to go but these idiots are doing the kids of today ( the fans of tomorrow) an injustice. United are rich enough to allocate one of these areas to kids and reduce the price. moneys not everything, but the kids are the future.
Regarding the Munich song. Im sick and tired of hearing it from all sets of fans. Its just sang out of pure malice and jealousy. the City idiots who frequently sing it dont know their history. Frank Swift, an ex City player died in the tragedy and was one of the "Whose that lying on the runway"

Munich wasn't a 'curse' per se like the Chicago Cubs have, but merely a reference to the fact that a lot of the first team, including England centre-forward Tommy Taylor and Duncan Edwards, who many good judges rate as one of the greatest talents the game has ever seen, died in the plane crash and a potential dynasty never managed to develop.

As Loo.
Also, he was surely aware that, if you are invited into a box by say, another Company as hospitality, you cannot jump up and down and shout your head off. And yes, as part of the day you are served a 3 course meal, which may include prawn cocktail. Does that necessitate being abused by the Manchester United captain?
I bet that he does not mind hospitality now that he is in management and his club needs every penny that they can get.
