I mean some people say that while they are drunk they don't realize what they are doing and after the incident they don't remember what happened, etc. To a certain degree I believe this is true but on the other hand I don't. You must have some control over your actions. Another thing I hear is that your true feelings/character comes out when your intoxicated. So I'm curious...what are the myths? what do you believe is true?

Alcohol absolutely can affect your thinking. It can also make it so a person doesn't remember what had happened when they were intoxicated, but that depends on the level of intoxication. You do still have control over your actions, however when you are very intoxicated you may not be able to weight the consequences of your actions appropriately, the way you would normally do if you were not intoxicated.

Alcohol, being a drug, not only affects your health, but it can affect your thought process as well. I've seen people who drink often (daily) who deteriorate so rapidly that there is no help imaginable that can stop the affects. I've also seen those who merely drink socially make one mistake after another before realizing that YES..Alcohol is a drug, and there are people in this world who wait for you to be intoxicated before pouncing on you and leaving you to suffer witha hangover that could last for years.Sometimes, those who use alcohol to their advantage are so lonely inside that they can't even see how sad their situation is.

Alcohol is liquid courage. It doesn't make you do things that you wouldn't normally do, it gives you the courage to do the things that you are normally to chicken to do.
