They do not control the media but their exploits do grab attention and therefore their exploits are reported more and more because that's what the American people want. Even though the more educated of us are sick of these "celebrities" the proles rule are the majority and what they want they get.

No, the media is consumer driven. They show what the general population want to see. People want to see celebrity fluff pieces. I am sure serious journalists hate this most of all. Also, good news does not sell either. You will never hear a reporter announce all the planes and trains arrived on time like they normally do. Sheople like to be afraid and hear about useless celebrities.
