I've lived in the projects (wasn't raised there, though) and I've never been scared or tried to act tough. The project that I lived in was right around the corner from where I grew up so I went to school with most of the people that lived there before I did so I never had any problems.

I live in NYC in harlem. That can be a hard place and may people grow up to be a drug dealer and whatnot because of the bad influences. I'm still educated also. I wasn't ever really scared of living here. In Harlem you have to act tough or else you are going to be pushed around. I did act pretty tough even though I don't think I really was.

I grew up in the Hood and still live there. East Oakland, CA.

You don't get scared, if that's all you know, then it feels normal.
