I have a 03 A4 - the button with key sign is to lock all the doors and boot from inside the car - great safety feature if you are driving alone. The other button - the one with a picture of a car with a door open is to unlock the doors and boot. I previously had a 97 A4 with the same feature so this should be correct - the interior doesn't seem to change over the years.
Hope this helps

1 is to disable alarm if you lock the car and leave a dog or child in it,, the other must be the one to immobilise rear elec windows, or if not that one its the panic button which locks all doors from inside,

hi there, just to add yet another answer, if the buttons your are refering to are in the door poket, then:-
1 button is to turn off the interior alarm sensor
1 button is to turn off the anti lifting alarm , if it is to be towed by lifting the front of the car.
Hope this helps
