I'm freakin out and no one understands what i'm going through. Its gross. i cant even kiss my boyfriend I feel like my bottom lip is dry and flaky and unattractive. I have tried everything. DO you think this ointment will work??? The skin is just peeling off like im a snake. Not the whoe thing but little parts of it. I have been drinking lots of water too. maybe not enough. I'm worried that i'm going to be like this forever and have to put something on my lips every hour until I die!! I'm only 24!! I know I sound crazy but this is gross and my lips have NEVER been like this. I'm scared the skin will never grow back normally/ The past week have been a nightmare!! ANd its making me depressed. I need help. ANd someone to calm my nerves.

Blistex...it is medicated and it moisturizes the lips. The skin of your lips is different than the skin of your face and the rest of your body.
This time of year it is common for lipps to become dry and cracked. Once your lips are healed (less than a week) use chapstick on a regular basis to prevent the chafing in the first place.
Also any deficiency in vitamin B12 or C or folic acid can also lead to drying and cracking around the lips. Make sure you eat those veggies...
I assure you it is relatively minor and very temporary, although it can be an annoyance.
Hope this helps

Ok, hydrocortisone does not help moisture your lips and stop them from flaking. Hydrocortisone is used for skin infections and to "calm down" your skin.
The best thing for lips is pure vaseline, (put it on your lips before you go to bed) as it covers them completely and does not allow any moisture to evaporate. During the day, use any Vaseline based lip balm.
Why did you doctor prescribe something so extreme??
Good luck!! xxxx

put honey on your lips, day and night, it is a great healing substance and tastes great..
also, suggest balmex, a diaper cream. i am serious. my daughter is 23, and i still keep it on hand for any and all skin irritations. you will need to use the balmex when you arent going out, it is white, and doesnt vanish..
keep drinking and take a multivitamin daily..
i agree with the other answer, that perscription is a little hefty for peeling lips, way to severe a treatment.
good luck
