Girl Scouting is great to have on a resume. Everyone knows what it is and they also do a ton of Community service as well as fun things. Also you can get scolarships if you do your gold award.
A gold Award is where you set up a volunteer project and carry through on it. Very few girls do it but when they do colleges love it. And it automalicly qualifies as Community Serviced needs. It shows dedocation as well. It is the evqivelent to a Boy Scout Egael Award

The very best thing is to volunteer doing something that interests you, that you can develop/have a passion for.
Ideally, you'll start now and continue through your high school years...and perhaps beyond. As you volunteer, hopefully you can become a "leader" in the area and/or initiate projects, e.g. fundraising, etc. This will show a college that you care about others, can juggle workloads, have leadership potential and have demonstrated initiative.
It could be working with kids, or the homeless, or the elderly, or animals. To make the most of it, all around, it should be something you really want to do.
Good luck!

you don't like your little ones? you want somebody else to ascertain them and teach them moral codes and good from incorrect? you imagine the authorities might want to be strong at that? sounds like baby abuse, to me. -- college is often even as they're adults, not youngsters. and in no way the authorities, both.

anything that interest you. it's best if it has a leadership quality to it, but that'll depend on the college you're going to apply for...
