Sex, sex and more sex!
Semen ripens the cervix.
Orgasm can bring on contractions, which may bring on real labor.
Also, talk to the caregiver about possibly stripping her membranes. This can irritate the cervix and set off labor.
Do a lot of walking to bring baby down and put more pressure on the cervix.

There's plenty of methods mentioned, but one there is one I didn't see, although I don't know the effect of it actually working. I've read and heard from midwives, that stimulating you're nipples can help to SOMETIMES induce labor. You could do it you're self or have your man do it for you, if you're desperate why not give it a try? You could also call you're doc and see what his.her opinion about stripping your membranes is. It's where they separate the outer amniotic sac from the wall, which won't hurt baby, just some uncomfortable pressure for a short period of time for you. Most of the time it will help to speed up the oncoming of labor, or you could still be waiting. I had my membranes stripped with my son and went into labor 32 hours later, so it could be another option. Just try to keep yourself busy to pass some time. Make sure your bags are packed and ready to go. Organize some baby stuff so you don't have to scramble to find it when you get home. Do some light chores around the house, they will pile up after baby's born. Read, Sleep, and try to relax and enjoy the last part of your pregnancy! Best of Luck to you, & Congrats on the hopefully VERY soon to be baby!

As an OB nurse for 21 years I've heard of so many ways but when you do evidenced based practice and see what really works it's a controlled induction with meds of course works the best, but in literature some things she and you can do to stimulate up contractions are #1 sex your sperm contains prostaglandins that soften up the cervix and help ripen it for labor her orgasm will stimulate uterine contraction doesn't matter what position I've read all this bull about doggy style etc the most important thing is it comfortable for her as she needs the orgasm. During sex also concentrate on nipple stimulation as this releases oxytocin and important hormone that causes contractions in fact this is what is used in hospitals to induce a synthetic hormone pitocin same thing. walking does nothing but exhaust the mom so she is wiped out at time of labor and can barely make it also when exhausted is more irritable and less able to handle the discomfort of labor.Food has nothing to do with the hormones and chemical reaction that occurs in the body to bring about labor. Then there's the people who will tell you to take castor oil this is dangerous as it causes severe diaharrea and dehydrates Mom because of the dehydration she will have contractions but once hydrated will go away the dehydration causes decreased blood flow to baby and stress that leads to baby passing it's first bowel movement called meconium and stains the fluid it has the consistancy of molassas and when baby is delivered can inhale this leading to aspiration / illness and death if not handled properly mostly give her TLC and remember most first tme moms 80% deliver at 40 weeks 6 days.. best of luck

The best, safest and most natural way to stimulate contractions in just plain walking. Not climbing or hiking in rough terrain, just flat surface walking. Also it is important to stay well hydrated and nourished. Unfortunately, unless you are at least 2 weeks over due or having complications, they won't usually induce labor and you really don't want them to do that either. The drugs used for inducing labor can be rough. Natural is the best even though waiting is uncomfortable. Good luck! I wish you a safe delivery and a healthy baby!

they say having sex works and it isn't the actual act but the sperm that helps start contractions and it doesn't hurt if she has an orgasm too. she could also go for a walk that might help . they also say nipple stimulation releases some hormone that causes a woman to go into labor but it doesn't work until after the 39th week and since she's over due that might help her. it may sound weird but i read that all those things work.

My doctor always suggested 3 things when I was past due.
HOT SHOWERS. The hot water hitting the breasts sets some ladies into labor.
Sex and walking.
Good luck!
