There's just one.

I know what you're talking about though. There's an object that has a really odd orbit around the Sun, called Cruithne, that's pretty close to us and orbits in a kind of horse shoe pattern. In a very, very loose sense, you could concider it a moon.

Some say there is a sort of dark moon in such an orbit that it can only be seen on rare occasion when crossing between the moon and Earth. They call this Lilith or the Black Moon. It's based in astrology having to do with the Moon's apogee. Some people take it literaly and believe it's real. I think that would be neat, but seems unlikely.

There are several other 'extra' moon theories, none very credible nor scientific.. but it's fun to think about anyway. Here's some links you should find interesting.

The solar system is a really big place and the sun is the only thing that gives off it's own light, so it's really hard to know what all is or isn't out there, let alone how to classify it. There's a lot of stuff that we have discovered that is really pretty mind blowing.. who knows what else is out there?

1, it was created by molten earth that floated into space and was caught in the magnetic gravity of the melas on earth pulling on the melatals in the forming moon while the planet was still forming
