It is factual that he was not the first man to arrive in America (excluding Native Americans)

The viking were actually the first people to reach this continent.

Anyway, Christopher Columbus came to America thinking it was India (so he did end up screwing up). This is why many of us still call Native Americans Indians.

Americus VesPucious is said to have discovered America. Personally, I am Native American, and I did not know it was ever lost. Until, that is, All of those foreigners came over and started stealing our land...

He didn't think he found America. He thought he was in India. That's how the aboriginal people came to be called "Indians."

He discovered it because the "new world" new nothing about it, but it was already occupied by the Indians.
