I bet you 90 percent do not, just like when some one says HOW ARE YOU, or how are you doing, they DO NOT WANT TO KNOW, really they do not.
I know they don't ( how, because I ask them .do you really want to know, they say NO!)

good luck

Not everyone means it... Maybe your friends do as well as some people who actually always say what they mean. But the majority of people just say it to be polite and do not really care whether you have a nice day or not.

In rare instances, yes. However most people just intend to throw out a gesture of ettiquette and are not really thinking about the meaning of the words they say. It is more of a reaction, but in rare instances when you feel a genuine connect, it is probably sincere.

Well, when I say-it I mean-it. . .
How can you not want someone to have a nice day, I mean how hard is it, really, to wish well upon others?
(am just curious)

well its just a saying that people automatically say. like when they say hi, how are you. they dont want to hear a long story about your life at the moment.
i think most people mean it without thinking about it. you wouldnt want to wish someone a bad day unless they were mean and hateful.

It depends on the person, but mostly I'd say no. I think most people are just trying to be polite. I don't say that much because I don't want to say it if I don't mean it.

Sometimes they mean it and sometimes they don't. Sometimes it is their job to be nice and others just say it to be nice, but there is usually a fine line.

Yes, and no. It really depends on the person for me. If it's a friend, loved one, or relative, generally yes. If it's a waitress/waiter, Wal-Mart cashier, or bus driver, generally no.
