I LOVE going to the Riverwalk-It's easy to walk over to the Alamo from the Riverwalk. There are lots of cool restaurants-one of my faves is the English style Pub-I can't remember the name-The restaurants are pricey, especially on drinks. But you can go around the area surrounding the Riverwalk-like to Fuddruckers (hamburger joint) for cheaper eats.

The Riverwalk is a bit pricey because it's a tourists trap. But withing walking distance on Alamo Street is the Wax Museum, and the Imax Theatre. Along with the actual Alamo. I would also suggest going into the Federal Courthouse/Post Office across the street from the Alamo and look at the architecture used to build it in the 1930's and see the frescoes on the first floor depicting the history of Texas since it's discovery to the time of statehood.
Also come over to Hemishere Plaza about three blocks from there to the Institute of Texan Cultures . It's a museum run by the University of Texas@San Antonio and has many different artifacts from all the different peoples who have lived in the area now known as Texas for the last 50,000 years.

Hi! San Antonio is a good place to go for spring break! There will be tons of people, but grea bargins in stores and restaraunts. I recommend that you arrive early whatever day you're thinking of going! And the best parking would be at "The Alamo" parking! It's in the center of everything. If not, park at the mall. I would recomend just walking down the river walk and then sitting for lunch! There's usually live music, so you'll have lots to see! A non-river walk I definatly recommend is "El Mercado." It's a little piece of mexico in S.A.! You'll see sings everywhere as to how to get there. Or just ask for a map or for directions. It's not hard. If you're really daring or want to spend more time together. Leave the river walk around lunch time and walk to "El Mercado." It's a good 2 miles! It's a little shopping eating place like you were in mexico. Save your money to buy t-shirts and souviners there, great bargins!
And music, no problem! There will be music everywhere. Downtown, almost at every bar. I recommend hooters! And at "el mercado" there's live mariachi and even dancing!! Wear tennies and dress comfortably!
HAVE FUN! Wish I was going!

The Riverwalk itself is awesome, there are some really nice resturants along it. Also take the boat ride tour of the Riverwalk, as far as places nearby, you could go to The Alamo, and also see The Tower of the America's. I've been up the tower, and it's an awesome view of the city.
Hope that you have a great time while your there.
My wife and kids and I are planning on going to San Antonio at the end of March. My wife was born in San Antonio.

We visit San Antonio once a year and we stay at the Mansión del Rio, which is right on the Riverwalk.

There's so much to do at the Riverwalk! Its in a mall so you can walk around inside, along with an IMAX theater inside it. There are some fantastic restaurants along the river, I like Tony Romo's, but there are all types to accommodate prices. The Alamo is just a short walk away, and if you wanna go downtown, there are some unique stores to visit.

The riverwalk is a great place...you don't really have to know what to do ahead of time...there's stuff everywhere...the cheapest beer is at the stands in the mall...check out the strip around the Alamo...also, Market Square, La Villita, and Ripleys Museum are pretty cool...wear comfortable shoes, though!!!

There are soooo many places to visit on the Riverwalk, a lot of the restaurants and bars can be a bit pricey, but there are plenty of other places downtown within walking distance. Check out
www.mysanantonio.com and www.sanantoniocvb.com.
Enjoy your trip.

The riverwalk is for tourists. The restaraunts are bland.
For good Tex-Mex near the riverwalk, find a place called Mi Tierra, very close by.

Check out Dick's Last Resort. That place is wild. If you do go, don't expect wonderful service. Their rudeness is their gimmick. It's a great place. I even have one of my own bras hanging on the wall.
