Your video card is pretty bad. Doom 3 needs lots of video memory and other things your video card does not support. Upgrade your video card. A BFG geforce 7300 GS OC 256MB PCI-E is a super stable video card that can run doom 3 pretty well. Its cheap and fairly easy to install and setup.

Just make sure your PC can handle it research about video cards and see if your PC supports AGP or PCI-E video card types.

I recently upgraded my PC I use two BFG GeForce 8800GTX 768MB cards in SLI.

Exactly, you have a Geforce MX4000, it is not up to running Doom 3, not by a long shot. To make it run faster and better, I'm afraid you're going to have to ante up for a new... errr... better graphics card. If all you're interested in doing is making Doom 3 run better then a Geforce 6600GT should get the job done. This is not a card I would buy to future proof your system, it'll get you through some older games like Doom 3 but if you think you are going to be playing FEAR or any new title then you will want something better.

But, I'll do you one better than the 6600GT, you can get the 6800 Xtreme Edition for $110 after rebates, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2201323&CatId=318 just make sure your power supply is up to the task of powering this card, you will need 450W or better.

If your power supply doesn't meet the requirements then you will have no choice but to get the 6600GT which doesn't need a molex power connector to power it.
