I'd ignore it, because sending back a mean reply, would let them know that it bothered you.
Ignoring it will let them know that it didn't phase you the least bit.
Ignore it, and move on, hun.
People like that are just seeing how mad they can make someone, and with you, you can show them that their plan didn't work.

Calm down. Lesson learned. You need to keep yourself in better control when you drink, try not to overdo it. Most people think that the garbage that drunk people say is somehow automatically truth because they think that when you're drunk the truth comes out. To a point that can be true, but it just means that you lose the self-control to stop yourself from saying things you don't really think or feel, but for some reason they come out of your mouth anyway. You can't take back what you said and there's nothing you can do to change how those people will remember it. Take comfort in knowing that anyone who is a true friend will get over it and let it slide.

Just what do you mean by "nasty?" Did the person accuse you of something? Were they upset with you? Did they call you names? I think it depends on what the letter said. If it's just abusive and they don't ask for a response, just don't respond. If it hurt your feelings but called for a response, I would reply in an honest manner about how you felt the letter was mean and what you want done with the relationship. I wouldn't be mean but focus on how you felt the accusations were unfair. Unless the person was cussing you out and just downright aggressive, I would reply.

The right thing to do is ignore, although personally it'd make me feel better if I wrote a nasty email back to be perfectly honest. That proabably will only make the situation worse.
So yes, you should probably ignore it.

add their email address to every spam list and porn site you can find. Sit back and enjoy being another net troll, drink a beer, turn off the computer and go get a life
