I have a gas dryer now, but moving and might need to switch to an electric and I do a ton of laundry with 3 kids. Just curious if it was worth having my gas turned off for 2 days to have it stubbed out to use the gas dryer or not! Thanks!

I was also worried about this. But now on electric dryer for 7 months and think it is about the same as my older gas dryer.

Not necessarily, Some of the new dryers actually communicate with the washer and adjust drying according to the load you just washed. Fisher Packyl makes a pair that are intuitive, since many of the new front load and some top load washers extract more water in the spin cycle there is not as much demand on the dryer.

The cost of operation depends on the cost of Elect vs Gas.

I can't imagine why the gas must be off for two days to get a dryer line run. All the work can be done before the connection is made and then the gas turned off and the connection made. and turned back on.

Any competent handyman or plumber should be able to do a gas hook-up for your dryer WITHOUT needing to turn off your gas for 2 days. If fact, in some cases it might not even be necessary to turn the gas off at all so your furnace and hot water heater remain on.

Since you still own a gas dryer I'd recommend staying with it. With all the laundry that you obviously do it would be a waste to go to electric.

It really depends on what you pay for gas and what you pay for electric
