I have a crankshaft, but I am not sure if its a 400 crank or a 350... are there any markings on the crank that could tell me?

Example SBC 350 Steel 1969 to 1985 ... 3941188
Forged SBC 350 1969 to 1985 ... 3941182
Many more different ones.

SBC Forged 400 1970 to 1980 ... 3951529
Only one .... no choice..

If it doesn't have a Cast Code its an Aftermarket crank but should still have a Part number stamped in it... Or Measure It...

Measure one of the main journals. 350 journal is 2.45" while the 400 is 2.65".

See this list also:

Best way is to check the casting code on the crank. A 400 crank can measure 2.45" on the main journals if it's been cut down to use in a stroker motor such as a 383.
