If you're lucky, they're caused by fatigue. If you're unfortunate as I am, dark undereye circles are genetic. Both my mother and father have very noticable circles, as do my brother and I. The actual discoloration, whether it be the result of a long night or just genetics, is caused by busted blood vessels, albeit very small blood vessels, just under the surface of your skin. As the skin around your eyes is quite thin and transparent, you can basically see right through your skin to the blue color of the broken capillaries.

Well, as most have said, lack of sleep, but it could be poor diet, thin skin, even herditary. Try using a little light concealer under foundation, not too much else you'll look like a panda in reverse! Try Touche Eclat, miracle stuff used by all the stars!

I was told that it's caused through not getting enough sleep. I find that its true because when I get more sleep my skin looks brighter and the dark circles disappear soon enough. Although, as soon as you start taking less sleep they return easily :(

People who say that's it's due to too much alcohol, I think are wrong, because I don't drink but I still get them. Its because of lack of sleep and that's all.

apparently lack of sleep, however u might be lacking iron in ur diet, as that can cause dark patches under ur eyes. dehydration can also be a factor, as can smoking, and drinking alcohol. if ur wanting to cover them up, i'd say use concealer.

one of the hugest causes is dehydration.

water water water!!!! so very important as is using an eye cream at night, the skin is thinner here and so it shows any excesses (or lackings as the case may be!) very easily.

drink more water, get at least 8 hours sleep a night and stay eating well.
try taking a supplement for healthy skin and brighter eyes.

Some people think it's lack of sleep and it might be in some cases I don't know. But it runs in my family. I've had them from being very little and so has my mum and brother. The teacher even took my mum aside at my junior school and asked if I was getting enough sleep. My mum was mortified. I've been asked (at high school) if I was wearing make-up and I wasn't. So, in my case it's hereditary.

it is lack of sleep and water can help to those problems, also cleaning to harshly round the delicate skin that surrounds your eyes and not eating enough fruit and veg to get enough good vitamins in your body will not aid the situation either! try to eat better, sleep well and clean gently! x

you probably don't want to know this but i find milk on a cotton pad on the eye area really helps just like cucumber.

A lot of it has to do with genetics, lack of sleep, improper nutrition.
