I agree with him 100%. I know I'm not going to be very popular for this but I don't care. Listen or read his side of the argument. He's making a stand against this meaningless war. How many innocent people have to die before somebody stands up and says this is wrong? He's decided to put everything on the line and stand up for what's right. I respect the guts it takes to make a stand and I respect his argument.

And by the way, I'm a ex soldier to. I'm also a veteran of this stupid war and support anyone who is fighting the war itself. Not fighting in it.

When he accepted the commission as a US Army officer, he swore an oath of allegience to protect and defend the constitution of the United States and obey the orders of those placed above him. As far as I'm concerned, he's not only a coward, he's guilty of treason and mutiny. And, during time of war, he could be put to death for it. (See the story of Pvt. Eddie Slovik.)

No matter what his political feelings are, he accepted the commission and then tried to back out of the obligation he took with that oath. No military personnel have the right to pick and choose if, when or where they will fight. It's an assumed risk that you take with the enlistment. As this is an all voluntary force, he has no legal excuses whatsoever. At the very least, he's guilty of breech of contract!

He should go to jail. He has not received illegal orders. He has not been asked to perform an illegal function. It is not his function to decide whether or not the political decisions that are made (outside of the military) are to be followed or not. As long as his orders are legal, he has to follow them. If he chooses not to, then he can also choose to accept his court martial. He is a coward and not a representative example of the fine men and women in the service of our country.
