In the first one, I was heavily pregnant. People kept criticizing me for getting pregnant, but I was adament that I'd be a good mother and I would love my baby. In the second one, its the middle of the night and I'm woken up by a close relative. I'm brought into a room and shown a cradle with a baby in it. The baby is put into my arms and I am told that I had the baby overnight. This makes no sense! Do the two dreams relate? Any idea what it means?

Of course those two dreams are related.
#1 Being criticized in dream shows symbol of low self esteem. You want to show people what your decision is right, being pregnant is a symbol of decision making.
#2 Being told by the relatives that you have baby over night. It is a symbol of commitment. You subconsciously have desire of having this baby and the baby symbolizes responsibilities.
By putting two together, whether you are pregnant in reality or not. It shows you that you want to be responsible for things you do and decision you make. Basically your dream reveals your personalities

What I believe your second dream really symbolizes is your issues of dependency. The cradle that you saw in your dream signifies the need to be protected and cared for. The baby that you said you had overnight may symbolize some weakness, or vulnerabilities, that you don't want anyone else to know.

They could be literal dreams meaning that you want a baby. They could also have a more deeper meaning for instance you have an unexpected burden or worry that is weighing you down and while everyone is offering you advice you are stubborn and determined to carry the problem alone even if perhaps you can't really cope.Just a theory, hope this helps!

According to my dream book if you dream you have a baby or you are pregnant etc it actually means you are going to go on a shoping spree or obtain money to do so.
