It seems that the girl is the one asking the question, not a guy. If that is the case, it would seem that the guys are either afraid of asking her out or she is afraid of going out because of what her uncle might do to the guys. I very much doubt that every guy in the town is a wuss. But if the girl is afraid, then she ought to talk to her uncle and be reassured OR she should let the guy worry about it.

What difference would that make? If you are planing on treating her like a lady then it should not matter what occupation her uncle was. If not, then worry.
