How does the author Charles Dickens use the character Scrooge to show that...it is possible to change the human spirit and to never give up?

Cos he's greedy and grumpy at the beginning and happy and giving by the end

Scrooge was a miser and a hard taskmaster.
Giving the ability to see into the past, present and future, he saw the pain of others, and he saw himself as a child and as a dying man.
When he saw that no one came to his funeral, he realized that he was not as important to others as he was to himself. This caused him to reevaluate himself and become a better person.
