Some. In the past I hadn't, but I ran across one user I thought was interesting, and someone later reviewed that user's past for me, and revealed some hostile, hateful and dangerous writing.
That user still does post revealing, hateful, and potentially criminal, answers occasionally, then usually removes the answers within a few hours. Some people accept the feeble excuses and insincere apologies and do accept those people.
People are known by their friends.
I will no longer accept anyone on 360 without a complete review of their history, unless it is someone I know in real life, or someone I know very well through 360 and Y!A, recommends them. Even then, they may be subject to a history check, and an analysis of their prior accounts. I have a person who enjoys solving puzzles, and sometimes will undertake such research on my behalf.
I just don't have much free time now, and have too much to lose in real life.
