It's really starting to bother me. Is this the world that I live in? So many people come on here and tell me and my race how worthlesss we are, how we are naturally dumb, ugly, and everything evil under the sun. It's really demoralizing. The way I'm feeling is starting make me see why some Black people don't bother trying. No matter what we do, we're seen as nothing but a waste of space.

You are just listening to the wrong people.

These days, if anything, there is a lot of paranoia for white people to be considered racist whatever they say.
Movies and TV programs are being recorded from black artists for a black community, which is more meaningful than seeing the odd black face on white movies, and the black race has, on the whole and when compared to only 50 years ago, turned the world's opinion from total discrimination to "Black is Beautiful" slogans. Virtually all music you hear on radios and in shops nowadays is rap and hip-hop, and so is the mainstream fashion.

Of course not all white people are pro-black, but not all black people are pro-white, either.
I've heard some pretty nasty remarks from black people towards whites, to which I can answer that I've never harmed anyone.

I think that everyone, regardless of race, sex, religion and so on, should have the same opportunities, and nobody should receive advantages on the same grounds. We all have a brain, and I think you being affected by what you read here does your sensitivity honour.

Lots of men think women are a waste of space. That doesn't mean that they are!
Unfortunately discrimination will always be, until there are ignorant people.

The reason that there is such a strong racist element on Yahoo Answers is that Yahoo Answers does not prevent or discourage such behavior. This is probably just because they do not want ot expend enough resources to police the behavior - whether this is because they are too cheap to hire the people to do it or because they think it will boost the popularity of Yahoo by bringing in the Jerry Springer fans, I would not hazard to guess.
The fact remains that this is one of the few places where racists can speak with relative anonymity so as a consequence they post a lot more than most of us. I think it is because out in the rest of society they get shut down by anyone with even the slightest sense of decency. Here they can get away with it so they out-number the normal questions... I guess the rest of us have enough of a life and other interests - they have only their hate and if they weren't so irritating we could just ignore them or pity them. As it is I find myself giving them the few minutes I could spend doing something better with my time.
For what it's worth you should know that most of society does not believe or agree with the garbage that these bigots spew on the web. Try not to let it bother you they are just projecting their own failings on others - they are the ones who are worthless, dumb, ugly and everything evil under the sun...

I agree that I've seen so many awful comments about black people--it's a few ignorant people that try to get a rise out of everyone. That's all it is--I've also seen MANY people stick up for the back race when these questions pop up. Most people here are offended at these ignorant questions, black AND white people. Don't let these few change your views on the majority. I think any racist comment or question should be automatically deleted by yahoo.

I do not see that. Though, here in my country "blacks" were so foreign in the previous generation that they were part of stories and fables like fairies and such.

We still have games of "Who is afraid of the Black Man?", and some chocolate and liqourice have silly african people with coal black skin and red lips and a fez. "Chocolate Kisses" or "***** Kisses" as they were called back in those days.

Though nowadays there's a lot black skinned people around, mostly from africa. Never met an african american- they are portrayed completely different from actual africans, which is odd...

I do not know about dumbness in regards to africans, however studies show that africans are more socially intelligent than others, as for attractiveness- some african people are more attractive than others to my non-african eyes, which is only natural.

I don't think you should be mad at the fact. A lot of people are ignorant. We've been discriminated against for hundreds of years. Not just Africans but even the dark skinned people in other races. I think that's why there is so much racism against blacks. And it's so hard for us that some of us give up and start becoming all of the stereotypes.

I take it as a compliment. Here we are and we are not known to most of these people. Yet they put thier kids, families, work, and social life aside to take time out of thier day to pay special attention to us. We must be a threat and this is the only way that they can think of to vent. Oh well

Amen to that! That's how I feel everyday of my life especially when at my job. I feel that I need to work 3 times harder than my White co-workers to prove that I'm just as competent. It makes we sick! It get emotionally tired from this, so I have cut down the amount of work I do at my job and go home. I used to work overtime but I don't anymore. All I ever wanted in my life was for people to accept me for who I am and not try to turn me into some butt-kissing superficial person just to get ahead.

People are always going to find a way to divide and oppress one another. People with darker skin are easiest to spot, and aren't able to assimilate the way that people with other characteristics can.

Just keep being your FABULOUS self! If "they" are expending so much energy to try and keep us down, we must be something special (otherwise why even bother?)

Do you.
