They can be. They have a much better chance than say, Taurus and Leo or Aquarius, or Gemini and Pisces or Virgo.
So many other factors come into play, factors that don't have anything to do with astrology.
Another big factor is where the other planets are in the persons birth chart and not just the fact that their sun is in Taurus or Gemini. Mercury and Venus are usually very near or in the same sign as the persons Sun sign. So, find out if these two have Venus and Mercury both in Taurus or Gemini. That can determine if they potentially think or love the same things and in the same way even though their egos (their sun signs of Taurus and Gemini) are different.

No way, Geminis are so flighty and spur of the moment. Taurus' are too grounded, so much so that it does not even balance out. I am a Taurus and I was with a Gemini off and on for 16 years, never again. In fact, if I meet someone and find out that they are a Gemini it is a big turn off.

That's too general to decide for all Geminis and Tauruses.
Gemini is an air sign, Taurus an earth sign.
Gemini, in general, moves faster, thinks faster, makes decisions quicker than Taurus.
This can be complementary, but it can also create problems.
The WHOLE person, not just their birth sign, makes up for good soul mates (or not).

Hell no Gemini's are too confusing and annoying.. My Gemini friend gets on my nervous for not being able o make her mind about anything. As a Taurus person we have zero tolerance for any bullshit drama.I don't think I would be able to survive a day dating a Gemini guy.

I'm a Gemini my soulmate is a Taurus.
Unfortunately, I let him go - hope his life is beautiful.
He deserves a grand life!
But I was always told never to put the two signs together-
