i live in a village where theres no mains water or gas, the nearest stream is approx half a mile away, should i buy the wife a wheelbarrow so she doesnt have to carry the buckets full of water

No No No NO! You should buy yourself a wheelbarrow to help your wife load the buckets into the wheelbarrow and between you push it home!!!

We really do live in a place with no gas..... got mains water though..... and a wheelbarrow!

Get her to stand on her head, fill her **** up with water, that should do the whole village for a month at least !

OK, what you need is to erect a windmill with a pump so that you can pump your water. Or you could run a pump on the gas made from poo. I think the windmill would be better.
