If so why?

NO! One test cannot dictate actual performance or total knowledge of a subject. Some people are natural born test-takers, and could filibuster their way to decent grades, while others do better on class assignments or hands-on stuff.

I have seen cases where students make all A's on class assignments and bomb every test. I have also seen kids who never do any class work and they pass all tests with C's or better. Depends on the person.

If you wanna get all philosophical, you could argue that the ONE test is whether you accept Jesus as your savior (or insert any other religious condition). In that case I think it's alright. I doubt that's what you meant though. :)

Your whole life shouldn't be decided by one standardized test. I wouldn't think whole lives ARE decided this way. Should a class be decided by one test? The answer is still no. It should be part of a whole set of various assessments. I have students who can't pass a standardized test, but they can prove through other means that they're proficient in the concepts they're supposed to learn. I also have students who CAN pass the test (just barely), but couldn't show they're proficient in any other way. They might just be good guessers.

Only if you pass the ONE test. And, d..., what a boring life you'd have thereafter.

Sure no.
I think in every profession they should be some tests from time to time.

no, it shouldn't be, and it isn't.
One test, failed or passed, is a segment of a life, not the whole life.

It never is. You can always repeat the test.
