How do you get pink eye without catching it from somone else?

I think you can get it if something goes into your eye and it stays in it for quite some time. That infected area is no longer clean and starts getting infected because the bacteria is no longer capable of being treated by the cells in your eye...

It could be an irritation from an inside pollutant.
But it can be transferred on towels, eye drops, hands, other inanimate objects.

you can get it from just an infection. Say that you leave your contacts in too long sometimes you can get it. Other than that I dont know.
