Hell 70% of Americans are less than 3 paychecks away from losing everything and being homeless yet they act it could never happen to them.

I had a friend who was laid off and lost his home six months later. Was he addicted to drugs/alcohol? No!!! Was he lazy? No, he worked 60 hours a week before being laid off. He couldn't find a job because these picky-as-hell companies won't give anyone a chance unless they are 110% perfect and the temp jobs he found only paid for about a third of his expenses. The only reason he wasn't on the streets because I let him in and he just helps with some of the utilities.

Why are people so ignorant about the homeless? When you work for a living it could happen to you anytime.

We are afraid to see what could happen to us wether it be in our control or out of it.
We know we dont run our own lives for no matter whom you are there will always be debt there will always be redunancy etc there will always be some way to become unfortunate no matter what we do or how hard we work

Although people live on the streets i personally never give them money i will give buy them a drink and something to eat
but also you have many of todays youth sitting at the side of a street holding a cup because the either want drugs or something else these are the ones who give you the wrong impression hence why many refuse to believe some people are homeless

Perhaps not all suffer from addictions but in your friends case I do believe that if you cant find a job in the current market of where you are living, my friend it may be time to pick up and move to another state, province or city where more jobs are readily available. While I do sympathise to a certain degree I do believe that alot of homeless are there do to poor decisions whether it be stubbern reasons or just bad judgements i don't know, but, I had to move across the country at age 18 to find work, took on the responsibility to get educated and work for what I desired. I live in a city where they can't get enough workers to fill all types of positions and yet I see these homeless that have a strong back are able to walk and are intellectually able to coin some excuse to panhandle. I do believe that our government should do more so that those with mental disabilities are not being subjected to life on the streets. For those who wish to blame others for thier woes are nothing but cop outs and will never stand tall in the face of adversity when it comes to making the right decisions at the right time to get ahead, for those with addictions without any loved ones to support them to get help, it simply comes down to the fact that we all must provide the humanitarian effort to take care of our own kind.

You are absolutely right, at any day we could all be homeless. My family and I try to help in any way we can to the less fortunate. God knows we don't have a lot of money, but we can always do something to help . For 21 years I worked two jobs just to make ends meet. Many times I had to pull on those ends to make them reach each other. Only by the grace of God did I make it. The people that stick up their noses at the homeless should first walk a mile in their shoes. Thank you for caring.

people R ignorant.. they choose the homeless and those on "welfare" and anticipate that they are lazy or do no longer desire to extra perfect themselves.. this is a great form of the time no longer genuine.. that's a stigma linked.. u see on television that homeless use the money they get for alcohol..hence each and every homeless individual is an alcoholic.. U have some people who abuse welfare and so hence ALL welfare rec. are lazy... i'm on incapacity and that i've got been called too lazy to paintings. If it weren't for me being on Sec.8 i may be homeless.. ss doesns't pay me adequate for hire, little on food, outfits (i've got no longer offered new outfits or shoes in 3 years) med care, and so on.. people are consistently the 1st to choose and say "it won't ensue to me" or " i will not at all go on welfare" yet while it rather is that or starve or be homeless, people do what could desire to be completed.. I comprehend the temp jobs... ninety% of the roles listed under are by using temp businesses (or McDonalds) and that they have no insurance, paintings area time, and so on.. those businesses will hire temps and paintings them till it's time to pay them reward and hire them completely and then they "enable them to pass" to hire others.. people have no thought what it rather is desire to wish the help of others and those form of IGNORANT people will at some point (optimistically) locate out what it rather is like ..it might exchange some attitudes.. (maybe no longer).

you are 100% correct my friend. The way the economy is going, we never know when we will be kicked to the curb by our employers. I thank God everyday that I do have a job, a home to come to, enough food to eat and clothes on my back. When a homeless person ask me for money, I get irritated but at the same time I feel bad for them, so I will give them a $1.00 to get some food.

Like the person above me the beggars give the ones who just were unfortunate a bad image and many people can't identify if they haven't been there themselves.

i totally agree this needs to stop, in my opinion the majority of the homeless are beggers because they chose to be that way and this gives the real homeless caught in bad times a bad image
