Advertising is paid communication through a non-personal medium in which the sponsor is identified and the message is controlled. Variations include publicity, public relations, product placement, sponsorship, underwriting, and sales promotion. Every major medium is used to deliver these messages: television, radio, movies, magazines, newspapers, the internet, and billboards. Advertisements can also be seen on the seats of grocery carts, on the walls of an airport walkway, and the sides of buses, or heard in telephone hold messages or in-store PA systems – nearly anywhere a visual or audible communication can be placed.
Publicity is the deliberate attempt to manage the public's perception of a subject. The subjects of publicity include people (for example, politicians and performing artists), goods and services, organizations of all kinds, and works of art or entertainment.

As an example ... let's say you programmed websites and you were making a website to let people know that so you could get some business.
Now if you paid other sites to link to your site. that would be advertising.
If you created someones web site and they had a note at the bottom that their website was created by you and they really liked it and then they put a link to your webpage. That would be free publicity ( good publicity ) for you.
They could of course say that you did a bad job and they didn't recommend you ( that would be bad publicity ).
Hopefully that helps in understanding it better.

Advertising is when you want to get your company/name/etc. known to the public. You advertise like commercials/billboards and so forth.
Publicity is when someone promotes you and essentially advertises for you. An example would be the news talking about you. That's publicity, and it's free. Advertising usually costs money. Publicity is usually free though.

Advertising is openly promoting a product or service! Publicity is is what you get from advertising but it can also be unwanted such as when a Paparazzi takes undesired photos of someone, a news item, etc.

Well both of them are nouns with the same root word, but they do differ. Habitat is the natural conditions and environment like forests, jungles or deserts in which a living matter lives. On the other hand, habitation is the occupancy of a place or the place in which a living matter lives such as on a tree in a forest or a foxhole in a desert or a nest in a mangrove. In other words, a habitation is just a place in a habitat.
