You can do either. If you are shipping something heavy they have what they call Flat Rate Box. They cost one price no matter what you put in them.

You can use your own box but make sure there is no writing on the box other that the address your sending it too. If the box has any print on the side you have to use a marker and black it out.

You can use any appropriate box you might have at home. I save good strong cartons for this reason. You do have to make sure it is securely taped and labeled.
The postoffice or even stationary story (Office supply store) would have what you need. The PO will not be responsible if the box falls apart, so make sure its strong and that the contents are well padded and protected (I wrap everything in plastic bags inside the carton).

They overcharge for everything at the post office- don't buy supplies there!
If you're sending something priority you can use one of their (free) priority mail boxes/envelopes (sometimes simpler, if you don't have the right size box at home)
I save all my boxes, and use them to (re)ship things in. Just be sure to put labels/marker out any writing on the box.

You can use a box that you have, or get one from them. The flat rate boxes are a good way to fit lots of stuff in one box and not spend a lot of money.

Use your own box, but all old writing or lettering on the box must be blacked out.

you can use your own box, but it is best to black out the markings so there is no indication of what was in the box before. You could also cover the box in butcher or brown paper.

you can use your own. If you have internet access, you can have your mail carrier pick your box up for you and avoid the post office. simply go to www.usps.gov. Here you can purchase your postage based on weight and where you are shipping it to. Then you can add a request for your package to be picked up from your home. I love this!

If you ship by Priority Mail (within U.S. only) the boxes are free. It's a pretty good deal.
