No you may not tan while you are pregnant. Although UV light will never penetrate your skin to harm your child, heat overload is not recommended during gestation. Also, it's not comfortable to be laying flat on your back in later pregnancy. The chemicals used in self tanners will get into your blood stream so don't use them either. Have you ever heard of the "mask of pregnancy"? It has to do with melanin and estrogen... you should read about it before considering tanning while pregnant... you wont like the results hehe.

A: “On a normal day, over-exposure to UV rays, both natural and artificial, presents a higher risk for skin cancer,” says Ronald Neal, MD. “While pregnant, you are susceptible to a benign but sometimes permanent condition called melasma or chloasma. Occurring most frequently on the face and other areas of the body exposed to sunlight, melasma is characterized by a blotchy type of skin pigmentation.”

The condition is caused by a group of hormones present in higher levels during pregnancy: estrogen, progesterone and melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH.) Tanning while pregnant may bring on melasma or blotchy darkening of the skin in exposed areas. Dr. Neal recommends using a high-SPF sunblock (30 or more) and a wide-brimmed hat while outdoors. As disheartening as the prospect of remaining pale your entire pregnancy may be, it's the best way to avoid those dark splotches often referred to as the “mask of pregnancy.”
