You really don't have to worry about your job until you get further along. Lifting anything will not hurt the baby, it'll just make you more tired and make backaches worse. People in jobs requiring repetitive lifting of 50 pounds or more should probably take their leave by the 20th week and those who must repetitively lift 25 to 50 punds by the 34th week. It is really entirely up to you unless you are ordered to bed rest or something. As you get further along, you will be the best judge as to the decision to keep working or not. So stay a while longer. Hope this helps.

If you by some chance had a miscarriage it is more than likely not caused by you lifting.......I moved our queen-size bed by myself a week before I had my baby and delivered a healthy 7 lb. 9 oz. baby. Ask you doc to be sure....but I'm sure he'll agree.

In early pregnancy, not likely... there's a lot of wives tales that will tell you different, but I have yet to see it proven. In later pregnancy you absolutely can not lift heavy stuff, there are 4 ligaments that hold the placenta in place and if you do damage to them you can trigger pre-term labour. I ripped my lower right ligament recently and ended up in hospital, all i was doing was walking... but i was walking for about an hour (oops!). They kept me for a day then told me to go home and rest, no more strenous activity as it can trigger preterm labour.

Youll know when it's time to stop, you'll feel it.

You should be carefull starting around three and one half to four months. It is thought that heavy lifting can cause placenta abruptio. This is dangerous to the baby. I would talk to your Doctor about this. It means separation of the placenta from the uterine wall. If this happens you will see light or heavy bleeding.
In that case you should see your doctor ASAP.

You can lift up to 50 pounds as long as it is not constantly until the 6th month if your pregnancy is normal. It is safer to only lift 25 pounds at time. Make sure you check w/ your doctor to know for sure if this is okay for you.

i wouldnt risk it. you dont want to hurt yourself. pregnancy adds enough strain on your body without having to constantly lift freight!! check the OSHA laws. there must be a limit to how much you are allowed to lift. also check with your doctor. maybe (s)he can write some kind of note stating you are only allowed to lift so many pounds. as a compromise, maybe there are some lighter tasks/duties you can do at work.

if you are already actice stay active but lifting is definatly a no no because you use your stomach muscles and that can harm the baby talk to your dr about getting a note for "light duty" for a while good luck

Yes your baby could be in danger. Ask if there is another job you can do with lighter lifting. Remember that our abdomen is our core muscle. Any movement we do usually uses our abdomen muscles. Also check with your doctor.

I think you have a few more months to worry about it, but i would defiantly stop at 4 months your work should move you to a more suitable environment because of your condition.

Yes you shouldn't lift heavy things. You could have a miss carriage.

ASK YOUR DR!!!!!!! Generally speaking there is a limit of how much you should be lifting but all doctors don't agree on that limit. Better safe then sorry!!
