about 50 years ago they said man can not fly to the moon it is impossible, the speeds needed would kill a man to get there in his lifetime, I reckon eventually but doubtful in our lifetime, where would I go hmmm not sure

if time machine ever will exist in the future then future people should be here today... so far we have not meet any one from the future which tell me that time machine will never be invented.
Then we can conclude that if time machine ever invented then it may be only one way to go to the future but not to go to the past
the other possibility is that the moment the human could make one and the moment he try it out the moment where every things collapse and rest to time zero. Remember before the first atomic bomb explosion some scientist debate the idea what if the hydrogen in the atmosphere got into the reaction and the whole earth catch fire and finish the the life int he earth.. ? this was real discussion and imagine what will be the outcome, none of the survivor would know what happened and the human will start again for another couple of thousand year before he re invent the same atom bomb again and try it out.
one last note.., what if the Prophets likes Mosses, Jesus, Mohamed were all people from the future who came to the past to accelerate man kind development? may be?

One line of reasoning is that if a time machine were to be invented at any time in the future, knowledge of it would be brought back in time and we would always have known about it. Since we don't know of any such machine, time travel must be impossible.
On the other hand, you could argue that traveling into the past to change history creates one or more parallel universes, so if a time machine is invented next year, we might then have a past in which we've always had time travel.
Stuff like this keeps the science fiction writers busy, but in general, time travel appears to be physically impossible.
If it were possible, I'd explore the future for some time with space travel and advanced longevity technology where my investments will support me comfortably.

To a degree, time travel is possible and is infact common.
The previous answerers talked about the speed of light being important, and they're right. It's a property called time dialation. The faster you're traveling, as a percentage of c (the speed of light), the more time stretches out. This occours at all speeds, but at the speeds we normaly travel it's unnoticeable.
But if you were going faster, at speeds approching the speed of light, time slows down a lot more. You're not aware of this and your watch continues ticking away normaly. Time also appears to be passing normaly for everyone on Earth. But when you finish your trip and get back to Earth, many, many, many years will have past.
Once you've reached light speed, time stops. Again, time is ticking by normaly for you, but to someone watching you, you appear anywhere in the Universe instantaniously.
Past the speed of light, time starts to reverse. Where ever you go, you get there before you left. Maybe before you were born.
Also, time dialates around massive gravitational fields. If you wanna know what the future looks like, go hang out near a black hole for a couple hours.
I'm pretty satisfied with right now, though.

While a few astrophysicist-types have thought up ways that time travel could work, In theory, but their ideas require ridiculous amounts of energy.
I 'm talking more energy than could be produced by the entire planet. Amounts that only stars themselves could come close to creating...
Some of the ideas also include exotic starships, "stabilized" wormholes in space, and other energy-hungry and expensive ideas.
In other words, you can't build a time machine into a Delorean. 1.21 gigawatts of energy isn't ebough to even get your time machine started. Sorry.

No, not like in back to the future.
Time capsules or time controllers, yes.
If you can control the 4th dimension you can put yourself deep into the 4th dimension and watch time around you go in fast forward. one second in the capsule could equal 100 years on earth.
It really isn't time travel but rather time control. But what has occured can't be reversed so you can't travel back in time.

NO.
Otherwise you would find traces of them in the history books.
If they existed, I would like to go to the future, just to check if and how the humanity had progressed.

It is very unlikely, because you must go the speed of light to time travel, and the speed of light would disentigrate you, unless they make a suit that can withstand those speeds, it's highly unlikely that humans will ever time travel....

Probably not one that works independently i.e. a transport machine that travels faster than light, probably one that can open up worm holes, i.e. harnessing something that is already there.
