you are denfinately nice and i sooo agree with you on this one. saddam did not deserve to die, no one does. they should of put him behind bars, not stop him living altogether. i am british not american so people will probably agrue against me and say i don't know what im talking about and look what he has done to our familes. but i think death isn't always the best way to solve things.

I think it was inevitable that he had to die. Saddam was a bad person who did a lot of really evil things to his own people and people in the surrounding countries. I was still at school during the 1990s when they were bombing Iraq - it was a catholic convent school and I remember talking to a nun who wished Saddam was dead - if a nun wishes someone dead, you know they really are evil.
Having said this, his execution was very badly dealt with - killing him on a holiday, not checking for camera phones, releasing these pictures to the world press etc.
They also killed him halfway through a trial for warcrimes commited at Anfal, and they were interviewing someone who had lost their family there on BBC radio and he felt that he had not got justice. I can't imagine he was the only one in this situation.
Also, I am against the death penalty, full stop - in the developing world and also in the United States (I'm British, BTW). If there is a good thing to have come out of this, it may be that people realise there is nothing dignified or restorative in putting someone to death.

I think the last count of people that Saddam ordered to have killed is up to around 750,000.
The Iraqi's were handed Saddam and they hung him. I'm thinking that it is still there culture to cut off hands of people who steal. So, to hang him -- was probably a very humane thing to do in their culture.
I don't want to see any video of this. I also don't agree with the coverage of this -- but you have to understand that many people need to know and see this for proof.
Personally I think the best punishment for him would have been to lock him up in a small cell, only feed him BLT sandwiches, and play loud American pop music into his cell for the rest of his life.
But the Iraqi people did what they wanted to do with him. It's over, move on. He was not a good symbol for the Muslim culture/religion -- don't play him up to be more than what he really was...

I'm not sure how I feel. I mean, he did horrible things, and was an awful person, and well, I'm not sure. I think all our opinions would be different if we were the family member of a victim, or even if we just lived in Iraq. But that was kinda sad he was killed on Eid. He killed so many people. I agree with this comment I heard on the news,"I'm not happy a human died, I'm happy a reign of terror is over". I'm not the right person to ask. I think, I think, he didn't deserve to live.

You are right, but also wrong. To kill another human for any reason is to exhibit barbaric animalistic tendancies. No human should be exterminated for any reason. To allow the murder of Saddam lowers all humanity to the same dimension as him. Yes he should have been imprisoned but not in Iraq but elsewhere. Say the UK paid for by Iraq. Put in a solitary prison concreted in so that escape or release was impossible.
You have to realise that many Arab countries are barbaric, and that is what they accept, Europe to a greater extent is less barbaric. The US however, still murdering convicts, is little better and until the murder penalty is stopped then Americans cannot pass comment.
One should lead by example. The Americans have been giving this example, videos of torturing Arabs.
Forget religion, its the person, look at the pervs in the clergy, look at the murderers in Yugoslavia.
So.. you are right but wrong.

I think he did deserve death but it definitely should have been done in a more dignified way. I don't think it should have been done on a muslim religious day or video's should have been made, and i also heard that they really humiliated him before they did it which i also thought was very unfair! I agree with you that muslim people are good people because i know a lot of muslim people, and all of them that i know are really friendly!

youth...it is such a difficult condition to suffer through. once you get older, and you see for yourself the way the world works, you will realize that some things may not seem truly fair or just, to the naked eye, but when investigated further, when the whole truth is revealed, the justification shines through. i used to think the way you do, and my family said they did too, but those were more innocent years, more volatile years before all the political changes took place. saddam was executed by his people. he stood trial, and that system found him guilty and sentenced him to death. did all the people he killed and ordered killed get the opportunity to pray and say their final goodbyes to their loved ones, and be afforded the "dignity" of having a black hood draped over their faces? i think not. you have a lot of growing up to do, and this, unfortunately, is a very hard life lesson to learn. evil begets evil begets evil. he was not ours to forgive, he did not kill our families. the families of those he killed had the final say, ultimately. god will take care of saddam. don't you have more important things to worry about? homework? college? girlfriends? boyfriends? people should NOT be racist, you are correct there, but people should also NOT be judgmental, lest they be judged. get me? hope that you do.

Yes he did deserve death look at all the people he killed in his country!! last count was 148 and i am sure thats not all of them.. For the record he REFUSED the Black Hood..It was his country that picked out the hanging day..No one is to blame but HIS country for setting the hanging on the start of a Religious Holiday ..The videos made of his hanging death were made by the Iraq Guards at the hanging..
I know quite of few Muslim People and they are kind and caring people.SO I would beg to differ with you on "How AMERICANS think about Muslims" Its your opinion and your entitled to your opinion

Whatever, he deserved what he got and worse. What about all the men, women and children he ordered killed? Have you been under a rock. I don't usually get fired up about questions on here but you got a lot of nerve to say that bastard deserved to live. Have you been living under a rock? You make me sick. He chose not to have a cover on his face. As for Americans being bad to muslim people, what a load. There are American muslims by the way. Not all muslim people are good, no particular race or religion is all good. Not all Americans are good. What are you like 12 or something. You just got schooled kid. Sadam was a sadistic, evil, killer that deserves to rot in hell for eternity. By the way, Americans did not hang him, the Iraqi goverment did stupid.

You have Two different issues here.
One: Capitol punishment. Many many Americans agree that Eye for an eye, is not just punishment. I however am torn on the topic. Sadam Killed hundreds of women, Men, and CHILDREN for the sake of his sick and twisted reasons.
Two: Muslims do face plenty of crap these days, just as much as Jews, Christians, and any other "religion". But since 911 all that is link to god in the form of ALLA are in somewhat of an ignorant kind of judgment.(as far as some ignorance in people goes). But that does not mean that SAdam is a good man because he is muslim or because that religion is getting some flak right now. Sadam was killed because he was comparable to Hitler in many many ways.
I agree that the muslim population has its proper and respectable individuals just as any religion does. But people are people and if they are F*7%#5 in the head than it doesnt matter what religion they classify themselves in.

You have your opinion and I have mine..Which totally disagrees iwth you. He refused to have anything over his face. That's why they put it around his neck. The videos..I agree with you there. That was wrong.
If they just locked him up, he could have broke out or been freed. Possibly put back in power and Iraq could have ended up back where it was.
I don't know any Muslims personally, so I can't say if they are good people or not. I don't judge though.
Additional Information..
Have you seen the pics of some of the people he killed? All I could see was the children. Their lifeless bodies tore me apart. How can anyone who orders the killing of children not be a perfect candidate for hanging?! Those children had nothing to do with any assaination attempt...
The bastard deserved to die
