Freeze some water overnight in different sized containers like a small plastic drinking cup, an ice cube tray, a large bowl, and some other containers. Take the ice out of the containers and put them on a cookie sheet. Take pictures at 15 minutes, 30 minutes 1 hour, etc. Explain whether or not the shape of the ice makes a difference in melting time.

How about studying and then doing a presentation on radio communications? There is a hobby known as "ham radio" that is not difficult to learn, and would let you talk to other young folks around the country and around the world who're also interested in science. Did you know that every crew that goes to the International Space Station includes hams? Did you know that every Space Shuttle flight includes ham astronauts - who sometimes take time out from their official duties to contact young people via ham radio and talk to them while in space? Your school could contact a local ham radio club and see if they could help you set up a station at your school so your class could have a chance to talk to the astronauts! Wouldn't that be cool?
Ham radio is also called "Amateur radio", but these guys and gals are not amateurish at all when it comes to ham radio. Give it a try - you might even become a ham astronaut some day!

Here's the easiest and most fun project in the world. Choose something in the grocery store: paper towel, detergent, bread, etc. Buy two or three of them. NOw figure out a way to compare them. WHich paper twoels absorb the most liquid? Which detergent cleans grass stains the best? Which bread stays freshest longest? Which cho. chip cookies have the most chocolate? Any of these lend themselves to making a quick hypothesis, design a test, gather data, and make your theory and report on.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
