See the links under "Literacy" on this page. These are the links recommended by the youth librarians at my local library.

www.scholastic.com has some good resources. Teaching a child to read who is experiencing difficulty with it is a fairly complex process. There are many little things a child might be missing that determine overall ability to read: phonemic awareness, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and many others. My recommendation would be to get an evaluation done by the school, and if that won't work or you arent happy with the results then get an independent evaluation. Find a teacher who seems to care and know what they aere doing to show you techniques to use with the student. One thing that wont work is worksheets. Children need to be engaged with good literature and must learn how to read and think about text from someone who can effectively guide them. Without knowing the child's age and area of difficulties it's really impossible to give you more guidance. Good luck and I hope this helps.

There are two sites here, and one was recommended by someone in Yahoo answers.
These are free.

These sites recommend learning phonics in order to learn how to read. This is the best approach and why current educational methods in the public schools are failing, because they abandoned this method. It is fun, it is exciting to learn, and your child will learn to read.

God bless you and if you wish to email me, I will look for more information or help for you.

WOW!! EXCELLENT question!

It depends on his/her reading ability as of now.

The program Hooked On Reading would be a good "tool" to start with.
