After looking at the short block, there is a small grove that took 3 or 4 trys to feel where the grove or pit was, should i just pay $1500, and fix the head gasket, and take my chances, or pay the $4500 and just put in a rebuilt motor?Engine now has 242000kms

I say the rebuild. 242000 miles is a lot of miles and I would hate for you to waste 1500.00 if it does have a cracked head.

jb weld is not for this type of repair. hone the cyls and live with a very slight lose of compression if its not completely removed. a 92 is not worth the price of a motor. send the head to a shop to see if it is still ok, then make the decision. what is its value where you live because 4500$ is alot towards another vehicle

I don't know why You people always diagnosed to the worse all the time.

if is not broken ,don't fix it!!!!!

Who said it was the head gasket?

You are talking about a grove.

You don't say "overheat,shaking,stall,leaking"

if the groove is not a crack near the cylinder bore, clean it out a bit with a rotory tool and fill the groove with jb weld smooth flat and put it back together

I wouldn't put that much into a 25 year old vehicle.
