I ask this, seeing a large increase in them while the job market becomes tighter and tighter. However when we send our kids to these fairs, are they just candy coated versions of the job market. Brought to you by (fill in company name here) or are there some guidelines for such events to follow.

The companies' job at these job fairs is to go out to impressionable young people, and tell them their company is the best is the world, best benefits, blah, blah, blah. I have been to one of these fairs, and I work in IT. With a straight face, you have to tell these kids how great the compnay you work for is. There is no guidelines as to what they can say. The thing we did try to stress that there were jobs at our company, was that they are becoming extremely technical, not jobs you were going to get with a grade 12. So, I think their basic function is to tell young people there are jobs out there, but, that companies are only looking for the best, and the brightest.
