I think that the showdown is going to be between the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. The Wii is simply out of its league. While its design is relatively unique, I feel that it the initial fun will wear off. The graphics aren't upgraded much from the Gamecube - it's not even HD! The thing I think that the Wii has in its favor is the Virtual Console idea. Nintendo owns the rights to most of the older, classic franchises (Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, etc.), and they're not giving those to Sony or Microsoft. I have been saying for years that Nintendo should make a console that is backwards compatible all the way back to the NES or even to the Atari. But now that it's arrived, I think that it will not fare well against all of the hi-def gaming experience that the 360 and PS3 have to offer.
Between the PS3 and 360, I think the 360 will come out on top. Graphics-wise, I believe that both are capable of pretty similar graphics - most wouldn't be able to tell the difference if they didn't see them side-by-side. Microsoft has recently fought for its market share, extending their manufacturer's warranty to 1 year, continuing working on backwards-compatibility, and issuing upgrades that will allow the 360 to output a 1080p signal. Once Halo 3 is released and when (if ever) Microsoft releases an HDMI connector and upgradeable built-in HD-DVD player, I think the 360 will win.
The PS3 is so popular right now because of all the hype. In a few months, a PS3 will not be hard to find at all. Sony has backed themselves into a corner with this console. First of all, it is WAY overpriced. You can buy an Xbox 360 (although a stripped down verstion) for $300. The cheapest PS3 is $500. While it offers more features than the cheaper 360, the modest pricetag will be a HUGE winning point for the 360. Many people don't need the HD-DVD player, internet connectivity, wireless controllers, etc. The general public will be more inclined to purchase a less expensive console if it's comparable in graphics quality. Blu-Ray technology, while extremely useful in data storage, has recently been seemingly losing the format war. HD-DVD already has the running start with the DVD name. Add to that the fact that consumers will not have to buy a whole new DVD collection - all regular DVD's are compatible in HD-DVD players. In the end, I feel that HD-DVD will win out, which will be the ultimate blow to Sony and leaving Microsoft and it's Xbox 360 the victor of this generation.

I say the Wii, i like the Xbox 360 also, but the Ps3 just has useless features in which you have to pay for. Such as blue tooth, too bad every one in the world uses a cell phone instead. Since it comes with the console you have to pay more money because of that useless feature. The N64 seriously is better than the Ps3, I'm not even lieing. Go with the Xbox 360 or the Wii. Not to mention the fact that graphics doesn't make a game good, that why people think the Ps3 is so good is because of the graphics. Now try telling me that a Pony Island adventure game would be good because of the graphics. Oh yeah, ignore the fact that you could have just searched this qestion since they have a million of these questions. Some one probabaly asked this qestion 2 days ago and I don't think that many people's mind will change in 2 days.

Wii has outdated graphics (hence the low price). Go with 360 or PS3. I bought a PS3 on New Year's Eve at Best Buy and I'm not disappointed. The PS3 has A TON of amazing games coming in 07 including Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 5, new Rachet and Clank.....etc. Plus Blu-Ray is beautiful.

Nintendo Wii rocks! Interactive gaming, lowest price of the three, and complete compatability with the gamecube!
The PS3 has great graphics, but none of the games seem to do anything for me, and it is expensive too.
The XBox 360 is pretty good for its graphics, online play, but I hate the fact that its not completely compatible with every original XBox game.
