We were planning on getting married in England (where I have family) and since it is easier to get legally married in both countries we went and did a civil marriage in the states. The bigger formal one was to be in England. It's just possible that we might want to do it in California instead. We live in Virginia so can we legally get maried again in another state?

Good answers. The second was so she could wear her dress and everything. Yes I suppose you could do a ceremony and papers don't have to be signed and such. The answerer that states that the US and Uk are recipricol......... Coming from miltary and miltary myself I had always understood it was just easier to get married in both countries. Plus I recently gained UK citizenship as well and it makes it easier to work out getting hers if you get married there as well.

You can certainly hold another ceremony and reception...you just don't need to do the legal stuff (license, etc.) in the second one, since you are already legally married.

You can. Go ahead and have your "formal" wedding.
Just don't bother with a new marriage license etc. as
you already have a valid one. It's good to hear a couple
having another ceremony that keeps you together, not
a divorce case.

yes as long as it is to the same person. you do not have to have a license the second time around though. the uk and us recogize marriages they both have legal reciprical agreements. learn more by going to www.travel.state.gov for us info see divorce marriage etc.
