Consumer Reports (February 2007) lists the following GAS ranges as top choices. They also list the average price;
1. Hotpoint, $550. 2. Maytag $1450. 3.Thermadore Professional $4100. 4. GE $800.
I do not have the issue on Washers handy, but we just purchased and considered Kitchenaid, Kenmore and Bosch. We purchased the Bosch.

find out what u want in the range and washing machine and then go for the lowest $$ once u have what u need.... eliminate the ones u don't want
