No, you can't. I've been accused of being gay numerous times, usually by some redneck type who thinks that if you don't go around bragging about how many beers you drank last night and how many women you've screwed then you must be gay.
I couldn't care less if someone is gay, bi, or straight. I'm just not into it myself.

No and as far as the other stereotypes offered here the same holds true. Some people when they talk to you like to look straight into someones eyes, as was mentioned the eyes are the mirror of the soul, but this is not the reason, our eyes give away a lot about what we are thinking. The pupils dilate when we lie or are uncomfortable. I would say from your description your friend is just a very open person who is confident and doesn't need guile to interact with others.
Don't read more into it than is there. Listen to what he is saying and you will get a better idea.

no, the gay guys that normally dont want to know their identity act straight or wont try to look at you, most of them are quite subtle, and the obvious ones, you would know theyre gay
