You should not take prenatals when you are not pregnant!
prenatal vitamins contain too much iron (and not enough of anything else) for someone who is not pregnant, taking iron that has not been prescribed for you can be dangerous, in fact men are supposed to never take supplemental iron
also I'm going to mention that many misguided people are going to tell you prenatal vitamins make your hair grow. this is a lie, vitamins have no effect on growth rate which is regulated by hormones.

Prenatal vitamins are just vitamins, nothing more. So taking them will not harm you. The reason they are called "prenatal" vitamins is because they contain the right balance of vitamins that women who are trying to get pregnant or who are in their early stages of pregnancy need for their unborn child to grow properly. I have heard that there is a certain kind of vitamin (I think it's vitamin A or B-12) that can help promote healthy nails, but I can't remember it off the top of my head right now. But whatever the vitamin is, your better off just taking that instead of prenatal vitamins.

No they shouldnt be harmful. But if you are trying to grow healthier nails and hair. Take a multi-vitamin and extra vitamin E. And eat healthy foods with lots of vitamins in them. Like dark greens, carrots, avacados, almonds etc. You'll also be helping out your skin.

No it is not harmful, because my mom takes prenatal vitamins because her doctor said it would be good for her because she needs the iron and vitamins and she is not pregnant.

No..prenatal vitamins are great whether pregnant or not.
I have found that just plain gelatin alone is great for the nails.
