Love. To love God, to love one another, to love ourselves and yes to even love our enemies.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Why you seem to have no joy is because just like meaning, there really is no joy out there at all. Looking for meaning is only going to make your life seem more and more meaningless. I'm not saying there is a meaning or there isn't, but I strongly urge you to give up on that line of thinking, you will find yourself in an exausted state of being. Write me if you want to go into this further.

you make what you want of life

people use religion as an answer to life because otherwise everything seems too hopeless for them

death is death and that's all it is, it's just a small end to something as 'wondrous' as life

if you anticipate the future, out of hope that results from insecurities, you will be unhappy no doubt, just indulge in the given moments, life is very fleeting, why wait for the future? indulge in the mysteries of life, indulge in the mysteries of human nature, indulge in the emotions of life, and accept things, accept death as something that makes life that much more important, accept that some of life's mysteries will always be life's mysteries

life is life, without the human mind and conscience there is no meaning to existence or time or anything, it's all in your head

i hope i don't sound too preachy or idealistic =/

Hi there!!!

What an incredible question !!!

This I believe is a question that is unique to each person, each soul having a earthly experience.

The meaning of life is so complex, yet so simple

Life is sharing our life with others, interacting, loving, fighthing, growing spirtiually, physically. Going through pleasure and pain, likes and dislikes.

Life is a experience that is so unique, for we all have different missions. We are all on different growth levels, life is wonderful.

I think we are here to learn from each other, to grow,
this is such a wonderful topic. Thank you for bringing it up

love light and peace always

The meaning of life is different for everyone. Everyone has different meanings. You're life, what you do its the meaning. Like to be alive for something or someone. To have hope for life. The meaning of you're life that's the answer. Trust me I don't even know the meaning of my life. I'm writing what I think the meaning of life is. But it doesn't matter what people write, but what you think the meaning is. Well its confusing when you think about it. I hope you kind of have an idea or have no clue of what i said. Well good luck.

You evolved as an animal on the planet earth. It is your job to live and breed more humans until such time that a superior race causes humans to go extinct. Look at the Neanderthals and the dinosaurs. They evolved, lived, procreated and went extinct. That is precisely what our job as humans is. As we modify humans and improve their genes, the current version of humans will be as obsolete as the dinosaurs. Our version of humans has only about 40 more years to go.

Meanwhile the robots are coming.

You are given a life, after which there is a heaven or there is emptiness. In both cases, you would want to live life pleasantly and enjoy as much as you can of it. Life could have either no meaning, or one single meaning, which would be to live properly to reach Heaven.

Life is given but once to live,
Throw it not away.
A day you might regret to live..
On another you might not live..
Live to regret that day.
