I agree with the first answerer, I am sure there are good areas.
However my only experience (we were driving through and made a stop at a store for some treats) was weird.
We entered the store, the parking lot of which was filled with cars, and it was dead-quiet. No one was talking, I mean NO ONE, and there were people all over pushing carts and shopping. We have been all over the states and out of the country and have never seen anything like it, and haven't since. I'm sot sure if we happened to make a pit stop in the middle of the third dimension, or dropped in some kind of cult-owned place. It was wild and something I will never forget as long as I live. I hope it was just a one-time thing....

Where have you been? I think Pennsylvania is the beautiful state in the country. Rolling hills covered in forests. Beautiful little towns nestled into valleys. Friendly people. Maybe they're all just sad because the Steelers lost their new coach.
The best places in Penn are the Poconos, State College, Lancaster, historic Phili and the 1000's of little towns that are something out of a Dickens book.
It is also the snack capital of the country (check out Hanover or Hershey!)

I live in PA and I don't know where you were but here...It has been up in the 60's and 70's the last couple of weeks and everyone is so HAPPY. Out riding bikes, even sun bathing, swimming in outdoor pools, taking long walks, really enjoying this wonderful
weather.
This is Pennsylvania in the United States of America.
ARE YOU A ZOMBIE TRYING TO FOOL EVERYONE??????
SHAME ON YOU! hehehehehe.....

My ex's family lived near the Ohio side and it was all a bunch of steel mill ghost towns. Really old houses, retired people, empty rusting steel mills, boarded up business, empty schools, empty churches and abandonded houses that was about all that was there. That was really depressing.
The bigger cities were ok but the "ghost towns" were so sad.

Awesome question. I ask myself the same thing every time I'm there.
I think it has something to do with the lack of sunshine. Or maybe it just in the water. Course it could be those crushing property and school taxes too.

It is called seasonal affective disorder. We get this way every year. Except we have had a reprieve this year with some wonderfully warm weather. Every day is a day closer to spring!
