My friends keep on saying to me that , these are not addictive . They quote their own example that they are not addicted and only do it when they just want it casually!!!!

Although there is a fear inside me that i might get addicted to it, as im a moody chap and i easily get bored or depressed, so taking them might become just another habbit to come out of that feeling!!
what do you say???

both are highly negatively addictive and habit forming. most addicts live in denial, like "i only drink to unwind", or "i only smoke to destress". why play with fire? just don't participate in negatively addictive things. take a walk, read a good book, ride a horse, do something positive.

Your friends are not telling you the truth. Cigarettes are *very* addictive, more so than heroin. Booze, slightly less so, although it can cause many more problems. I imagine your friends are young, too. When you're young, you can treat these things more casually and imagine you are not addicted. Unfortunately, the older you get, the less easy it is to be casual because by then it's too late. You've either given them up, or you are an addict, whether you want to admit it to yourself or not.

Whether you become addicted or not is more or less down to your personality type. Some people have addictive personalities, others don't. The ones who don't are the lucky ones.

I would be very, very, very careful. Do you want to be a slave to various addictions that can cost you your health and an awful lot of money. Or do you want to be your own person, free of addictions, and free to do what you want without being dictated to by your addictions.

If I had my time again, I know what I'd choose. I only regret that when I was young peer pressure led me into smoking.

Do yourself a favour. Don't acquire any addictions in the first place. Be free. And don't listen to people who try to tell you otherwise. They only want you to join them to make themselves feel better.

Don't do it.

Whatever you do, never start smoking!!!, i do and it's very hard to quit, also it won't impress friends, you won't be the man or woman, smoking gets to be a nasty (and expensive) habit, it's fitly , your house smells from it, your breath stinks and you die young from lung cancer!

Drinking, it's addictive, but not as bad as smoking in the addictive sense, it's very bad for your body and mental state though, also, never start, ppl won't hold it against you if you don't drink, but they will if you are drunk!

If you are depressed, find relief in other things, like music or something, go out, have some fresh air, it will help, cigarettes and alcohol surely won't help, only temporary make you feel different, especially alcohol can have an affect that works opposite of what you want because you can loose control of your thoughts and grip of your surroundings, make you a different person!

your friends are fools. Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to man. Then there's the booze, enjoying yourself and going over the top and becoming dependent depends on the individual, some become addicted to alcohol, others dont. Lots of people drink in moderation and dont have a problem but plenty more have serious problems. Cigarettes however can have you hooked very quickly and it will burn holes in your wallet, your clothes, your home and your health. Dont touch the cigs. Please dont start. Be strong and stand up to your friends, what sort of friends are these who would want to see you wreck your health - maybe except to make themselves feel better if they themselves are into it.

There are degrees of addiction both physical and physiological. Both nicotine and alcohol are proven additive substances. Moderation is the key, but few people have discipline to moderate themselves.

Smoking cigarettes at a young age will most likely lead to that person smoking for a lifetime.

I enjoy alcoholic beverages myself. I love a cold beer in a frosted mug more than anything.

I am 28 and I am addicted to cigarettes. A lot of people when they are young, say they are not addicted, but in actual fact they are. My advice would be don't get involved with cigarettes. I wish I could stop.

Drinking is a bit different. Generally, people who drink to excess or are alcoholics have some emotional issues. Getting addicted to drink is much harder than getting addicted to cigarettes. My advice would be, avoid cigarettes and drink in moderation.

Both are really, really addictive. I would stay far away from the alch because it can destroy lives and relationships, and your life as well.
The cigs will only destroy your heart and lungs. But a lousy choice as well.
Better to get counseling for depression and find other outlets to keep from being bored.

basically as any dependancy it really is in easy words own. Why can some human beings delight in a drink and carry out somewhat human beings grow to be alcoholics. it really is a case of dependency upon some thing and could ability. I used to smoke even as i turned right into a teen I had to offer up because of well being topics(i'm allergic to nicotine and to numerous different elements in cigarettes) lately i'm completely content to smoke the straightforward one even as going out or delight in a good cigar even as chance arises. yet i doesn't go lower back to dependency on cigarettes. a lot of my associates are occasional those who smoke and that i have not began to work out one among them to grow to be routine those who smoke. So both you grow to be dependant or you do not it is your determination

It depends on how many cigarettes you smoke and how much you drink and if you can stop either at any given time. I know lots of people who smoke a lot and say they are not addicted and many who drink a lot and say they can give it up but don't. I knew a few people who drank and smoke a lot and didn't give it up until it was too late. You are the best judge of your status in this.
