Being blonde and a man, I must say trains travel in pairs. There was a saying when I was 1 month old, don't spit on what you are going to eat. Now back to the question. Tornadoes were not around before freight trains but Merle Lee Lee Hirt was. Trains brought tornadoes with them from the Swish Alps. Let me know if this helps

I live in tornado ally and I think it would sound more like the sound of a rock slide.
Todays tornados sound diffrent when they are near you beacuse of electrical poles, fencing, and other man made things that are being picked up and smashed against each other inside the tornado.
In 'the old days' the nados would just be picking up grass, dirt, trees, and animals (it depends on how far back you go as to what sound you will get.)

I would imagine that it still sounded like a tornado, freight trains or not.

Tornados did not exist before freight trains, silly. They were no trailer parks to distroy.

Since these areas seem to have one every year, I don't know why they don't say it sounded like another tornado.

Yes ! My Buster (dog) can sense and feel it "in the air". He can hear thunder long before I do. He starts trembling and wants under the covers next to me on the bed if it's at night. During the day, he hides under my desk at my feet or follows every step I make around the house.. I try to console him, but the trembling and fear he feels doesn't pass until the storm passes. He's my little weatherman. And I DO take notice of his warnings that something serious is "in the air".
