It could be it's too early for the test, it could be that the test is wrong or it wasn't carried out properly...it could also mean she is not pregnant. Women's cycle can change a lot. She only needs to be a bit stressed, to not eat properly, to have bit a bit run down lately and her period would be late.
Do the test again!

I had to take 3 tests before getting a positive result, this took about 2 1/2 weeks after my period was due. I know the tests claim that it can give a positive result on the day your period was due by my GP told me that only 5% of women actually get this. Are her breasts very tender and is she tired? that is a good sign she may be pregnant. Just wait a few days then do another test. Good luck xx

At ten days the hormone levels may not be strong enough for the test to detect.

The most accurate test is a blood test which will show up now.

You two either need to wait another week or two or go for a visit to the GP who will take the blood and let you know for sure.

Good luck.

either wait a week and take the ept pregnent test or go to the doctor. also when taking the test do it when you first wake up,
because your bladder is clear and full then. if your not pregnent, just try not to have sex one week before your period and one week after your period. it's safer that way.

Change of seasons. Stress. False negative on pregnancy test. Fallopian cysts. Hormonal fluctuations.
Could be many things.

it might be too early to for the test to show up positive. This happened with both my pregnancies. My second pregnancy showed up negative, then a week later it showed up positive. Same happened to my friend, we were both a few weeks pregnant and our tests showed negative.

Hi,
Has she come off the pill/or any other similar conceptive recently?

If so, then this is quite normal.....also has she taken only one test or a few and all negative?

I would recommend seeing her dr as soon as poss.

Take another one to make sure it wasnt faulty and also if she's stressed get her to relax because that often delays periods. But if it still doesnt come go see your doctor, you have nothing to loose, better safe then sorry

She might just have an irregular menstrual cycle, alot of women go through it (It's a part of nature) But she should still go and get her GYN's opinion.
